Dubai- If you don’t want to go to the crowded fish markets in Dubai and get stuck trying to find a parking space, there is a new way to get fresh fish home delivered at your convenience, no matter where you reside. And the quality of the fish is guaranteed by Dubai’s own fishermen.
The Dubai Fishermen’s Cooperative Association, which started the home delivery service of cut and cleaned fresh fish a few months ago, is now planning to extend the service to other emirates in the country in two months, said Khalid Salem Selaiteen, chairman of the Commercial Projects Committee and board member of the Association.
“All you need to avail the service is to take a membership for it called Bint Al Nokada (a popular local fish) for just Dh110 per year. You can place your order for the fish through a toll free number 8007766,” Selaiteen told Khaleej Times.
“We keep the address of the registered members saved in our computer system. So, when you call us, we will deliver the fish to your doorstep. If you are holding a programme somewhere else and want the fish to be delivered there, we will do that as well. We will take one to two hours for delivery depending on the distance and you can pay by cash or card.”
Selaiteen said 900 members have so far registered for the service named ‘Fresh’ (Tari in Arabic) and has a logo titled Dr Hammour.
“The fish is cut, cleaned and packaged in a hygienic and safe way at our facility in Al Ghusais and it is transported in temperature-controlled vans. We offer only the day’s fresh fish. We don’t mix the fish and there is no cheating on the quality, quantity or prices. The prices are usually almost the same as those in the fish markets or sometimes even lesser, depending on the season..”
He said the service can be availed from 7am to 10pm. “We are going to increase the number of staff and vans so that we can cater to more people, especially the elderly residents who cannot go out to the market and get fresh fish. We are also offering delivery of bulk amount of fish for commercial outlets.”
