Mangaluru 02 December 2017: Heavy security forces has been deployed in Ullal following the communal tension that prevailed during the Eid Milad procession in town on Friday December 1.
A few people allegedly ‘disturbed’ the Eid Milad procession in the town, following which the two communities had a face off followed by heated arguments. Timely intervention of police ensured that the matter is resolved peacefully, but Saturday morning saw heavy deployment of security forces in the town.
Similar incidents were reported from Chandavar, Honnavar, and Kumta.
Police officials had to use force and lathi charge to disperse the protesters in Chandavar, while also taking over 20 people under preventive-custody. Situation turned ugly when a green flag was installed near Chandavar circle violating the orders of the police against installing flags near Chandavar circle. Following the incident people from other community installed the saffron flag, which turned the situation to worse.
Though the reports of situation being under control at all these towns are out in local media, but the security forces have been deployed as precautionary measures in all these towns.
