Karwar: Police along with resort staff rescues man trying to commit suicide

Karwar 15 April 2018: Karwar Police along with Devbagh resort staff rescued a man trying to kill himself by jumping into Kali river of Karwar here on Saturday.
Shankar Lamani who was earlier rescued twice attempting suicide in march, was sent to mental hospital at Dharwad. But on Saturday morning he was found drowning at river Kali.
The Devbagh resort staff noticed Shankar drowning into the river and tried calling him back to the shore, Shankar without paying any heed to their calls went further a kilometer into the waters to kill himself.
Chittakol Police was then alerted about Shankar by the resort staff, who rushed to the spot and rescued Shankar before handing him over to his family. Police also advised the family members to get Shankar treated of his mental instability to avoid any such attempts in future.
