BSF Jawan of Karwar who died during anti-Naxals ops, laid to rest with state honors in Karwar

Karwar 11 July 2018:(Bhatkallys News Bureau) A BSF Jawan (Border Security Force) hailing from Karwar who was killed in an IED blast carried out by Maoists on 9 July, was laid to rest with all full state honors today (Wednesday) where people thronged in numbers to pay their last respect to their fallen hero here at Karwar

Vijayanand Naik (29), who was serving the 121st Battalion of BSF died on Monday in an IED blast by Maoists in the forests of Chote Bethia in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh.

The Mortal remains were brought to Karwar through a special flight from Goa Airport on Tuesday night, the mortal remains of Vijayanand were taken to the police parade ground on Wednesday with procession that started DC’s office here.

Thousands of people joined the procession amidst heavy rain to pay their respect for the soidier. A guard of honor was given by the state police by firing three rounds in the air as a mark of respect. District Commissioner S S Nakul paid respects to the soldier on behalf of the District Administration.

MLA Roopali Naik, Ex-MLA Satish Sail were also present during the State honor funeral of the martyr.
