Bhatkal 9 Februaury 2019: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) Venkatesh Prabhu Gundil(68), the President of Taluka Merchants association who was admitted to Manipal hospital from last few days, breathed his last here on Saturday morning.
As the news of his death got spread in social media platform, most of the shops of the taluk was remained closed as a part of respect and tribute to their union President.
He was one among the prominent disciple of Shri Vidyadiraja Thirta Shripad Wadeyar of Shri Parthagali Jeevottam Mutt. He was also a senior director at Maruthi Co-operative society.
He survived with a wife, a son and two daughters.
Thousands of people across the taluk including MLA Sunil Naik, Ex-MLA JD Naik, Ex-MLA Mankal Vaidya, Merchant Association officials MS Mothisham, Padmanab Pai, Muhammed Iqbal, Muhammed Aslam, Manjunath Prabhu, members of GSB Samaj and others reached to his home at Shirali to get a glimpse of him for the last time.
Merchant Associations from Hubli, Udupi and also Dakshina Kannada were also present there.
