Kavita trust organizes Konkani poetry recitation competition at Udupi, Nawayath Mehfil candidates bags top spots

Brahmavar (Udupi) 08 Oct 2017 (Bhatkallys News Bureau): Kavita Trust today organized a poetry reciting competition of Nawayathi and Konkani poems at holy family Church school Brahmavar. Representatives of Nawayath Mehfil Bhatkal also took part in the competition two of whom qualified for the final round.

Melvyn D’souza, Founder President Kavita Trust,  spoke to Bhatkallys.com and said the trust is working for accretion of regional languages of coastal belt. He further added several events and competitions are organized every year and this year they had organized competition for Naity and Konkani language’s poetry.

Participants from across the coastal belt took part in the event including representatives of Nawayath Mehfil Bhatkal. Farhat Ali represented Nawayath Mehfil in senior category and bagged first spot to qualify for the final round, while Suhail, who represented Nawayath Mehfil in Junior category too bagged first place and qualified for the final round.

Notably, about five years ago Melvyn D’souza published the book of Prominent Naity writer late Shabber Baida in Kannada named ‘Chindya Che Gombe’.
