Bhatkal 13 Sept 2017: Traffic movement of NH66 near Soligedde in Bhatkal was disrupted for over two hours in the wee hours of Wednesday due to a serial accident involving a fish laden truck, three buses and two bikes.
According to the police, a truck after loading fisheries from Goa was heading towards Kerala and a bus owned by Ganesh Travels which left Mangaluru towards Hubli rammed into each other near Soligedde cross on Bhatkal NH66. In no time, another bus of Sugama Travels which was also heading towards Hubli from Mangaluru collided with the Ganesh Bus, later another bus of Ganesh Travels which was on the same route collided with Sugama bus. Reports of two motor bikes also being involved in the accident were received.
The driver of the truck was found dead on the spot, while the driver of Ganesh Bus has sustained serious injuries and his legs have reportedly been cut off from his body. The cleaner of the bus has also sustained injuries. The truck driver is identified as Abdullah (35), a resident of Manjeshwar town of Kerala. The bus driver and his cleaner were not identified till late and were shifted to a Mangaluru hospital where they have been said to be critical.
The driver of Sugama bus identified as Ghouse (55) along with his cleaner also sustained injuries. The Ganesh bus that collided the last had a list of passenger who were injured which also included three senior citizens. The bike riders reportedly got away with minor scratches of their bodies.
The body of the truck driver was struck in a complicated position and it was retracted after several attempt by the officials with the help of locals.
A number of locals rushed to the spot late at night to lend an helping hand to the police officials after the reports of accident went viral on Social media.
A case has been registered at Bhatkal Rural police station.
