30 September last date to apply for Pre-Matric scholarships for minority students, informs Bhatkal Minority Officer Shamsuddin

Bhatkal 13 September 2018: (Bhatkallys News Bureau) The last date to apply for the pre-matric scholarship for the minority students by the Government of Karnataka,for the academic year 2018-19 is set to be 30 September 2018, Bhatkal Taluka Minority Officer Shamsuddin informed Bhatkallys.com.

Directorate of Minorities, Department of Minority Welfare has invited applications for scholarships for the minority students studying from class I to X.

The scholarships eligibility conditions call for applications from the students who have scored not less than 50% marks in the previous final examination (Not applicable for students studying in 1st standard) while the annual income of the students’ parents/ guardians from all sources should not exceed Rs. 1 lac.

Students of Karnataka domicile studying in other states are also eligible to apply for the scholarships in Karnataka while students of other states studying in Karnataka are not eligible to apply from Karnataka.

A bank account with nationalized bank (On the students’ name) with Aadhar number linked is also mandatory, and the students/schools will have to apply for the scholarships online as no other mode of application will be accepted.

Speaking to Bhatkallys.com Bhatkal Taluka Minority Officer Shamsuddin spoke in details about the importance of using the schemes and scholarships being provided by the government for minority students.

“Students/schools today, are depending on agents/cyber cafe owners for applying for these scholarships, they don’t know how to apply themselves, but actually its a very easy thing to do, while you also get to know where the money comes from, why does it come and other related details” Shamsuddin said.

“People can apply by simply visiting the online portal http://scholarships.gov.in from they can click on New Registration tab and follow the instructions to apply” he added.

Shamsuddin further added “This actually does not come under my workflow as per procedure but today being government holiday for Ganeshotsava, I am working with my staff at the office as I have to help the school staffs in applying for these scholarships for their students, I have been working here relentlessly since the day I took charge as I want maximum people to get benefited with these schemes and scholarships, people can directly contact my office for any assistance, we are here to help, they need not pay any agent any amount of money for getting the work done”.

“I want to create awareness within people about the schemes government provides as our people are unaware of it and most of the sanctioned money goes back to the government unused” he added.
